I found the reason is it always failed when it tried to active the wireless card. (I set the wireless function always on in the beginning). Now I can only log into the safe mode, even the safe mode with network cannot access the windows. I tried to disable the wireless function in the bios, this time I can go into real windows now. but before I can do anything, while still in initial loading period, it was shut off and reboot again. The reason is same thing, it tried to active the wireless card. Because I disable the wireless function in the bios, it just delayed the reboot time until it goes into the windows.
I cannot change the wireless setting to "always off" in the safe mode since hotkeys was turned off in the safe mode. I cannot change setting in the normal mode since it rebooted before I can do anything. and, I remember for a long time, my computer was shut off and reboot during normal use. I was puzzled for what happened for a long time.
now I think it might be the same reason-something conflict with wireless card. Now just become worse, I cannot even started the computer.
is that because XP service 3 which I have now issuer?
Update:
I finally get a chance to go into windows (just try, like 10% chance I can) and I changed the setting to start up without turning wireless function on. and now everything looks fine. but as long as I press the wireless button to turn the wireless function on, the red light of Wifi blinks several times, then computer was turned off and reboot. so, looks like the wireless card is defective? |
