Hi,
To install Windows XP, Tablet PC Edition you need the restore CDs from Fujitsu. Fujitsu is the sole source.

Here is a copy/paste of what I said in another thread a couple days ago.
Installing Windows XP TE is extremly difficult, and not for the light hearted. Take a look at TabletPCBuzz.com their forums regularly discuss installing a TE fresh.

It is extremly complicated because you have to take windows XP Pro, and then find someone with TE installed and grab certain files- and then put it all together. I tried to figure it out but gave up quickly, though I was only curious so ran out of patience quickly.

You can call the Tablet manufactuerer and request (normally you have to purchase) the reset disc that will reset your tablet to factory settings. However, your friend must have reformatted to get Windows XP Pro on there, and so it is possible he errased the hidden partition for the reset disc- which would make it useless.

If both these options fail, you will have to wait for Windows Vista which will replace XP and XP TE. The beta is available, and I don't know but can only assume the pen features are built into the beta.

Good luck! Keep us posted!
Amazon.com has started pre-sales, they anticipate availability in "early 2007."

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?&docId=1000002381

It looks like the equivalent of "Home" can be purchased for $200, while an "Upgrade CD" is available for $100, this would be quite uncharacteristic of Microsoft- but I can only assume an Upgrade CD would be to upgrade Windows XP to Vista.

I'm 19, male (It's Jaymz not Jayme =P Though I grew up as Jamie). As for location thats trickier. Currently? Spokane WA. I call Spokane home, grew up in Issaquah WA (just outside Seattle) but will be moving to Russia for school soon probably.

Actually they aren't bad.

They match up with Windows XP. Home is $200, Professional (Business) is $300. They are releasing many more version of Vista, I don't think they have released the differences yet but we know the two basic ones match up price for price.

However, as far as I know in the past you've never been able to upgrade for $100, that is pretty cool.

Those first prices you see ($400!) are very startling, but those are definately more business oriented versions that probably incorporate some serious server software or perhaps even come bundled with Office?
