Hi, I heard the exact same sound on my notebook few times. Usually when the notebook is running for a long time and get hot. I dont think its normal. Maybe some electronic component on supply circuit is influenced by warm... _________________ Gateway m285 |

My CX2620 makes a funny sound when its running on battery too. I thought at first something llike a staple may have been in the fan but there was not. Only does it on battery but everything seems towfine.
As for the brightness, there is a setting in the bios for brightness. There is a default level (full) for wall power and a default of 50% brightness for battery.
