I have a gateway E-295c that the HDD failed on. I have been trying to get a recovery CD, but gateway directs me to a company called MPC for support. MPC is bankrupt and the website won't even ack my serial number as valid. I've tried calling gateway's sales dept and it's tigerdirect and they (once again) direct me to MPC). Actually, I'm on hold with their support line right now... and have been for just over 30 minutes.
Ordinarily I would not ask for a copy of windows on a forum, but in this case, I can't see that I have any options left. Does anyone have a XP recovery CD for this tablet?
Heck, since I'm typing here.... I found a copy of tablet XP online. I had to remaster it with nLite to include the ACHI drivers and once it loaded, I entered the serial number on the windows authentic sticker on the bottom of the tablet, and XP says it's an invalid number. I'm going to guess that if I call microsoft, they'll tell me this is an OEM copy of xp, and they don't support it to use the vendor's support. I'm also going to guess that they won't even sell me a (new) copy of xp and will try to shoehorn me into vista.
Very frustrating as I've tried every legit way I can think of to solve this.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
